The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Diversity in IP Law Committee, along with AIPLA, strongly maintains that the continued inequitable treatment of African-Americans and other communities of color is intolerable.
As mentioned in AIPLA's June 5th statement, the AIPLA Diversity Committee will be holding a Wellness Check online meeting on Wednesday, June 24th at 3pm EST, where we will have members of our community share thoughts about the recent tragedies of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and others, and the impact on our community. There will also be an opportunity for individuals to further share thoughts and participate in the discussion.
Our distinguished speakers include:
Mark Charles, Associate General Counsel at Procter & Gamble
Mark Whitaker, Past AIPLA President and Partner at Morrison and Foerster
Angela Grayson, Vice Chair of AIPLA Diversity and Founder of Precipice IP
David D'Zurilla, Principal at Schwegman, Lundberg, Woessner
Everyone is welcome. We believe that listening to black voices as they recount their experiences is a small, but impactful, step we should all take to improve our nation and live up to America's ideal of "Equal Justice Under Law".
